James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
1 Peter 1:22
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, God’s [YAHUAH's] love is truly made complete in him.
1 John 3:24
Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
1 John 5:2-4
By this we know that we love the children of God [YAHUAH], when we love God [YAHUAH] and observe His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God [YAHUAH], that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God [YAHUAH] overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Note: The NASB translation is used here because the NIV translation is lacking.
2 John 1:5-6
And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.
Matthew 22:37-38
"Jesus [Yahushua] replied: " 'Love the Lord [YAHUAH] your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment."
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Note: This is Yahushua speaking of his second comming.
Revelation 12:17
Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring—those who obey God’s [YAHUAH's] commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus [Yahushua]. Note: Revelation 12:9 tells us who the dragon is: "The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."
Revelation 14:12
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's [YAHUAH's] commandments and remain faithful to Jesus Yahushua.
Isaiah 24:1-6
See, YAHUAH is going to lay waste the earth
and devastate it;
he will ruin its face
and scatter its inhabitants—
2 it will be the same
for priest as for people,
for the master as for his servant,
for the mistress as for her servant,
for seller as for buyer,
for borrower as for lender,
for debtor as for creditor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste
and totally plundered.
YAHUAHhas spoken this word.
4 The earth dries up and withers,
the world languishes and withers,
the heavens languish with the earth.
5 The earth is defiled by its people;
they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
and very few are left.
2 Thessalonians 1:8
He will punish those who do not know God [YAHYAH] and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus [Yahushua].
Hebrews 10:26-27
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God [YAHUAH]. Note: The Apostle John defines sin for us in 1 John 3:4 "Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness." In the section on faith we also saw that the Apostle Paul defined sin in Romans 14:23 "...and everything that does not come from faith is sin." These two definitions of sin harmonize because in Romans 1:5 (listed above) Paul tells us that obedience comes from faith.
Daniel 7:27
Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'
Lawlessness:
Lawlessness found in the New Testament comes from the Greek word: "anomia" which is defined: 1. the condition of one without law; either because ignorant of it or because violating it. 2. contempt and violation of law; iniquity; wickedness. Anomia appears fifteen times in thirteen verses. The NASB translates anomia as lawlessness or lawless deeds every time. The KJV translates anomia as iniquity. The NIV only translates anomia as lawlessness four times. Lets look at these verses of scripture as translated in the NASB.
Matthew 7:22-23
Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ Note: Yahushua is quoting Psalm 6:8. Also note "in your name", did they even know his name given him by his Father YAHUAH?
Matthew 10:40-42
So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,42 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Note: Yahushua speaking
Matthew 23:27-28
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Note: Yahushua speaking
Matthew 24:11-13
Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Note: Yahushua speaking. How prophetic, just what we see today - cold hearted people full of contempt for YAHUAH's law.
Romans 6:17-20
But thanks be to God [YAHUAH] that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.
2 Corinthians 6:14-15
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Note: Belial is a false god.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus [Yahushua] Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord [YAHUAH] has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
2 Thessalonians 2:6-10
And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord [Yahushua] will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
Hebrews 1:8-9
But of the Son He says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
9 “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.” Note: Author quoting Psalm 45:6
Hebrews 10:15-17
And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
After those days, says YAHUAH:
I will put My laws upon their heart,
And on their mind I will write them,”
He then says,
17 “And their sins and their lawless deeds
I will remember no more.”
1 John 3:2-6
Beloved, now we are children of God [YAHUAH], and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
