Obedience

Galatians 5:6

For in Christ Jesus [Yahushua]  neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

1 John 5:3-4

This is love for God [YAHUAH]: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,4for everyone born of God [YAHUAH]overcomes the world.

Romans 1:5

Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

Romans 5:19

For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.  Note: This scripture is referring to Adam and Yahushua.

Ephesians 2:1-7

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

2 John 1:5-6

And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

Leviticus 18:4

You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am
YAHUAH your God. Note: YAHUAH restating what His name is.

Ezra 7:26

Whoever does not obey the law of your God [YAHUAH] and the law of the king must surely be punished by death, banishment, confiscation of property, or imprisonment.

Job 36:11

If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.

Psalm 119:129

Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them.

Psalm 119:167

I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly!

Matthew 5:17-20

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."  Note: "everything is accomplished" is not referring to the same events Yahushua was speaking of when he said "it is finished" in John 19:30. "When he had received the drink, Jesus [Yahushua] said, It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." What was finished was the act of Yahushua giving his life as the final sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. To read about when "everything is accomplished" read the last two chapters of Revelation (chapters 21-22).

Matthew 19:17

"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus [Yahushua] replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

Matthew 28:19-20

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Note: This is Yahushua speaking. Verse 19 is considered "the great commission" by virtually all christian churches around the world, but verse 20 (the rest of the sentence) seems to be forgotten by many as has the names: Father YAHUAH, His son Yahushua, and the spirit YAHUAH.

Luke 11:27-28

As Jesus [Yahushua] was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

28He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God [YAHUAH] and obey it."

John 14:15-17

"If you love me, you will obey what I command16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth.

The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you".

 Note: This is Yahushua speaking.

John 14:21

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”

Note: This is speaking of his Father YAHUAH.

John 14:23-24

Jesus [Yahushua] replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. Note: the father who sent him was Father YAHUAH.

John 15:10

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.  Note: This is Yahushua speaking of his Father YAHUAH.

Acts 5:32

"We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God [YAHUAH] has given to those who obey him."

Note: This is Peter and the apostles speaking to the

Sanhedrin.

Romans 2:13

For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's [YAHUAH's] sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Romans 15:17-19

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus [Yahushua] in my service to God [YAHUAH]. 18I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God  [YAHUAH] by what I have said and done— 19by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

Romans 16:25-27

Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus [Yahushua] Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God [YAHUAH], so that all nations might believe and obey him— 27to the only wise God [YAHUAH] be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

1 Corinthians 7:19

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s [YAHUAH's] commands is what counts. Note: This scripture harmonizes with Galatians 5:6 (The only thing that counts is faith expressing its self through love) because in 1 John 5:3-4 we learn that obeying YAHUAH's commands joyfully is the very definition of loving Father YAHUAH. The two scriptures listed above from Psalm 119 expresses this truth very well, as does the rest of Psalm 119; I encourage all to read the entire Psalm 119
.

1 John 3:4

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. Note: We will take a closer look at lawlessness at the bottom of this page.

Galatians 5:7

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?

Hebrews 5:7-10

During the days of Jesus' [Yahushua's] life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10and was designated by God [YAHUAH] to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 13:17

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

1 Peter 1:22

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.

1 John 2:3

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commandsThe man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s [YAHUAH's] love is truly made complete in him.

1 John 3:24

Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

1 John 5:2-4

By this we know that we love the children of God [YAHUAH], when we love God [YAHUAH] and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God [YAHUAH], that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God [YAHUAH] overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Note: The NASB translation is used here because the NIV translation is lacking.

2 John 1:5-6

And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.

Matthew 22:37-38

"Jesus [Yahushua] replied: " 'Love the Lord [YAHUAH] your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment."

Revelation 3:3

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.   Note: This is Yahushua speaking of his second comming.

Revelation 12:17

Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspringthose who obey God’s [YAHUAH's] commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus [Yahushua]. Note: Revelation 12:9 tells us who the dragon is: "The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."

Revelation 14:12

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's [YAHUAH's] commandments and remain faithful to Jesus Yahushua.

Isaiah 24:1-6

See,
YAHUAH  is going to lay waste the earth

    and devastate it;
he will ruin its face
    and scatter its inhabitants—
it will be the same
    for priest as for people,
for the master as for his servant,
for the mistress as for her servant,
    for seller as for buyer,
    for borrower as for lender,
    for debtor as for creditor.
The earth will be completely laid waste
    and totally plundered.
YAHUAHhas spoken this word.

The earth dries up and withers,
    the world languishes and withers,
the heavens languish with the earth.
The earth is defiled by its people;
    they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
    and broken the everlasting covenant.
Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
    and very few are left.

2 Thessalonians 1:8

He will punish those who do not know God [YAHYAH] and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus [Yahushua].

Hebrews 10:26-27

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God [YAHUAH]. Note: The Apostle John defines sin for us in 1 John 3:4 "Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness." In the section on faith we also saw that the Apostle Paul defined sin in Romans 14:23 "...and everything that does not come from faith is sin." These two definitions of sin harmonize because in Romans 1:5 (listed above) Paul tells us that obedience comes from faith.

Daniel 7:27

Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'

Lawlessness:

Lawlessness found in the New Testament comes from the Greek word: "anomia" which is defined: 1. the condition of one without law; either because ignorant of it or because violating it.  2. contempt and violation of law; iniquity; wickedness. Anomia appears fifteen times in thirteen verses. The NASB translates anomia as lawlessness or lawless deeds every time. The KJV translates anomia as iniquity. The NIV only translates anomia as lawlessness four times.  Lets look at these verses of scripture as translated in the NASB.

Matthew 7:22-23

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ Note: Yahushua is quoting Psalm 6:8. Also note "in your name", did they even know his name given him by his Father YAHUAH?

Matthew 10:40-42

So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,42 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Note: Yahushua speaking

Matthew 23:27-28

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Note: Yahushua speaking

Matthew 24:11-13

Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Note: Yahushua speaking. How prophetic, just what we see today - cold hearted people full of contempt for YAHUAH's law.

Romans 6:17-20

But thanks be to God [YAHUAH] that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.

2 Corinthians 6:14-15

Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Note: Belial is a false god.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4

Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus [Yahushua] Christ and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord [YAHUAH] has come. Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

2 Thessalonians 2:6-10

And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord [Yahushua] will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

Hebrews 1:8-9

But of the Son He says,

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.” Note: Author quoting Psalm 45:6

Hebrews 10:15-17

And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them
After those days, says YAHUAH:

will put My laws upon their heart,
And on their mind I will write them,”

He then says,

17 And their sins and their lawless deeds
will remember no more.”

1 John 3:2-6

Beloved, now we are children of God [YAHUAH], and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
